Longevity Policy
Beginning in 2019, the Porter County Council included an appropriation in the adopted budget for longevity pay for eligible county employees. Prior to that, longevity was paid out only after additional appropriations were approved by the council during the course of the year. In June of 2019, the Porter County Council adopted a revised longevity policy that clarifies when longevity will be paid out and who is eligible. To view the policy, click here: Longevity Policy.
How to View Any Local Government Budget
Local government units -- from the county to schools to townships -- are required to post their adopted budgets on the state’s informational portal, Gateway. From this site, you can access any budget for any taxing unit -- anywhere in Indiana.
Go to the Indiana Gateway website. From there, you can choose from a variety of local government financial information. One way to access a specific budget is to click on "Report Builder." Then choose the budget data you wish to access.
