Drug Court & Juvenile Services Foundation
Foundation Overview
The Drug Court & Juvenile Services Foundation of Porter County, Inc. exists to raise community support for the Juvenile & Family Drug Court. This support will be in the form of donations (monetary) in order to assist in recovery support services such as education, goal-oriented incentives and sanctions, and counseling services. The funding may also help support staffing and infrastructure to increase capacity of the Drug Court and the various services provided by the Porter County Juvenile Probation Department, Juvenile Detention Center, and Family Court.
A successful Foundation will have the following attributes:
- An active Board of Directors that sets policy on the kind and amount of advocacy the Foundation conducts. The Board will be made aware of the political and fiscal environment in which the Juvenile Justice system operates, and pay attention to how the program is performing in its stated purposes.
- The Board shall raise community awareness of the services and programs offered by Porter County's Juvenile Justice System.
- Advocacy among the community centering on justice and compassion.
- Advocacy within the community emphasizing the fiscal prudence of the Juvenile Justice system as an alternative to "punishment only" approaches, with adherence to evidenced-based, family-focused services.
