Election Night & Central Count Workers

We are also seeking individuals who can work as Central Count & Election Night Workers on Election Day.

Central Count Workers

Individuals are paired together into bipartisan teams to prep the absentee envelopes to be counted by the high speed tabulating machine. Teams will verify that signatures are on the envelope, open envelopes, back-fold ballots, and count the ballots per precinct. The hours are 6:45 AM to 6:45 PM on Election Day. Pay is $150.00 for the day.

Election Night Workers

Individuals are paired in bipartisan teams to receive election materials from Poll Workers. Duties include unloading E-poll books and blue bins from cars, collecting paperwork, resealing bins. The hours are 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Election night. Pay is $50.00

Necessary Qualifications If You Are Age 18 or Older:
  • You must be a qualified and registered voter in Porter County; AND
  • You must be willing to declare your political party affiliation; AND
  • You must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
Necessary Qualifications If you Are Age 16 or 17:
  • You must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; AND
  • You must have written approval by your principal or, if you are educated at home, the approval of the individual responsible for your education; AND
  • You must have approval by your parent or guardian.
Disqualifications For All Ages:
  • You are disqualified if you have property bet or wagered on election results.
  • You are disqualified if you are the treasurer or chairman of the committee for a candidate on the ballot.
  • You are disqualified if you are a candidate or candidate's relative by birth, marriage or adoption, unless the candidate is unopposed.
