Road Preservation

The Porter County Highway Department completed a total 120.45 miles of road preservation in 2019, nearly 15% of the 815 miles of roads they are responsible for. That is in addition to bridge repairs, ditch maintenance, culvert replacements and general maintenance of the roads. With an increased focus on road preservation, their Crack Seal, Chip & Seal and Asphalt Overlay programs are extending the life of existing roads.
