Board of Zoning Appeals

The board hears a variety of petitions, including variances to the local zoning ordinances, special exceptions, use variances and temporary certificates of occupancy. The Board of Zoning Appeals is defined by law as a quasi-judicial board, which means that the decisions that they make are final, and can only be overturned by a judge in a court of law.

Under some circumstances, as determined by the Director, variances from development standards (setbacks and legal non-conformance), Use Variances (temporary certificate of occupancy renewals) and other petitions may be heard by the Board of Zoning Appeals Hearing Officer.

The Board of Zoning Appeal's clerical support staff is located in the Department of Development & Storm Water office. There are filing dates that must be met before they are presented to the Board of Zoning Appeals. Please call the office for more information. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
