The Porter County IV-D office is dedicated to helping parents establish and enforce child support orders. Our mission is to insure that children receive the support they are entitled to so they will have a greater opportunity to reach their full potential.
Our office represents the interests of the child and the State of Indiana on matters related to child support. We do not represent any individual client. We do not provide services or legal advise on matters regarding custody or visitation.
Any parent or person with custody of a child can apply for our services. This includes fathers, grandparents or other relatives. Please select from the child support links on the left for information on the services we provide.
Our office strives to provide our clients with efficient service. We are currently implementing several changes in an effort to better serve the children of Porter County. We currently handle approximately 5,500 active cases with a staff of two attorneys, six caseworkers, two coordinators and a receptionist. While we cannot force an irresponsible person to be responsible, we will use all available enforcement tools to secure the children's rights to be supported by their parents. There are cases in which, no matter how much time and effort we expend, we fail to reach our goal. In these cases there is usually a combination of circumstances which prevents us from obtaining positive results. Our office hours are listed on the left side of this page. We are open to the public from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, only. For your convenience, we have a drop box located in the lobby if you need to leave information or documents during other times. The lobby is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
