Welcome to Porter County Parks and Recreation's Webpage!
We have updated our site to make it easier for you to view content, request reservations for any of our facilities, reserve a spot in one of our many programs, and view and provide feedback on any of our park projects. 

The mission of the Porter County Parks and Recreation Board and Department is to preserve, protect and manage the natural, cultural and recreational resources within a diverse park system. 

We are committed to delivering youth, adult and school programs to the residents of Porter County and Northwest Indiana, while also providing a gateway into the natural beauty of our area through its unique parks and trails. For more information, call (219) 465-3586.

Here in Porter County, we have a variety of great opportunities that will help you make the most of our natural beauty of our area and everything else we have to offer. Year Round Run Club 
Come to Sunset Hill Run Club for a run to discover the beauty of Sunset Hill The length of the run varies, but will traverse grass, hill and woodland trails.

Women's Walk Club 
Sponsored by Porter Regional Hospital
Come to Sunset Hill Farm for a walk on the challenging terrain of the park. Open to woman only, must be 18 years or older

Sunset Dog Walkers

Bring your 4-legged friend on a leash for a walk on the trails at Sunset Hill Farm. The walk will offer wellness information and encouragement for the dogs and their walkers. Must be 18 years or older.

Weekday Walk at Sunset

Duneland Photography Club
Club members meet monthly to discuss topics related to photography. Topics range from camera basics to post processing of pictures. For more information email .

Family Hikes
Each month anyone can come out and enjoy Sunset Hill Farm with the Park Naturalist. A new month always brings a new topic for exploring, discussing and investigating! There is always more to explore at Sunset Hill!

Boot Camp at Sunset
Sponsored by Porter Regional Hospital
Join a master level trainer at Sunset Hill for an invigorating hour long workout that is guaranteed to work your body from head to toe. Open to men and women 18 years and older.

Yoga at the Park
Join our certified instructor for weekly yoga class to stimulate the musculature through breath and movement. This is the perfect way to start your Saturday! All levels Welcome!

Young Artists at Sunset Hill
Youth painting instruction, for all skill levels, where the focus of the project is different each month. Participants will create and take home their project the same day.

Reiki Level I
Reiki is a Japanese technique for working with the life energy that flows through our bodies. The Reiki Level I class, taught by Kate Schlobohm, teaches techniques to increase and direct that energy for relaxation and optimal well being. Participants must take Reiki I before participating in Reiki 2.

Healthy Holidays
Educators from Purdue Extension will provide tips and techniques for making your upcoming holiday meals healthier.

Evening Escapades
Escape the weekday grind by coming out to enjoy a relaxing evening activity with the Park Naturalist. Sunset Hill is a vast area full of many different things just waiting to be discovered. Take a break during the week to enjoy all that nature has to offer at Sunset Hill Farm!

Senior Hike-Turkey Talk
Colonel Murray planted most of the trees that would create the forest at the top of the hill. Interestingly, over the 80 years of the farm at Sunset Hill major things have started to change. Our once mostly pine forest has slowly transitioned over to deciduous naturally in many areas. Come out for a cool hike through the woods to explore.
