Welcome to Porter County Parks and Recreation's Webpage!


We have updated our site to make it easier for you to view content, request reservations for any of our facilities, reserve a spot in one of our many programs, and view and provide feedback on any of our park projects. 

The mission of the Porter County Parks and Recreation Board and Department is to preserve, protect and manage the natural, cultural and recreational resources within a diverse park system. 

We are committed to delivering youth, adult and school programs to the residents of Porter County and Northwest Indiana, while also providing a gateway into the natural beauty of our area through its unique parks and trails. For more information, call (219) 465-3586.

Here in Porter County, we have a variety of great opportunities that will help you make the most of our natural beauty of our area and everything else we have to offer. Whether you want to go out and enjoy the great outdoors, be inspired by nature and see it grow on canvas or fire up the imagination of your students in class (or out!) - There is a recreation program for all occasions

Freezing Foods
An Educator form Purdue Extension will provide tips and techniques for freezing foods- from fresh produce to leftovers.

Young Artists at Sunset Hill
Youth painting instruction, for all skill levels, where the focus of the project is different each month. Participants will create and take home their project the same day.

Migrating Majestics
Many migrating birds are starting to pass through Northwest Indiana and you never know who you might see when you go for a walk at Sunset Hill.

Boot Camp at Sunset

Join a master level trainer at Sunset Hill for an invigorating hour long workout that is guaranteed to work your body from head to toe. Open to men and women 18 years and older.

Restorative Retreat

Join our instructor for a day long restorative retreat that will focus on both the mind and body through yoga and meditation. The day will include a light, healthy lunch

Spanish Made Fun - The World
Students in grades 2 through 6 will have fun learning about the Spanish Language and culture. Class topics are all about the world - animals, weather, nature and basic conversation will be introduced using games, songs, books and interactive activities

Families are invited to stop by Sunset Hill Farm and meet the animals and their caretakers.

Weekday Walk at Sunset 
Come to Sunset Hill for a walk on the challenging terrain of the park. The walk will traverse grass, hills, and woodland trails. Open to men and woman 18 years or older

Gentle Yoga and Strength Training for Seniors
Sponsored by Porter Regional Hospital Senior Circle
This Gentle Yoga and Strength Training class, taught by a YogaFit Certified Instructor will teach you the basics of gentle yoga while sitting in your chair. We will also incorporate the use of TheraBands for gentle strength training.

Sunset Dog Walkers

Bring your 4-legged friend on a leash for a walk on the trails at Sunset Hill Farm. The walk will offer wellness information and encouragement for the dogs and their walkers. Must be 18 years or older.

Duneland Photography Club
Club members meet monthly to discuss topics related to photography. topics range from camera basics to post processing of pictures. For more information email .
