Responsibilities Of A Special Needs Cat Foster

The attention and care of a special needs cat will vary based on the medical condition of the cat.  At a minimum, you should be prepared to:

  • Aid in the care and socialization of sick, injured or very young cats.
  • Be attuned to changes with the cat and any illness and relate that information to the foster coordinator.
  • Spend time socializing on a daily basis with the foster cat.
  • Provide food, water, litter and other necessities.
  • Medicate the cat, if necessary under the guidance of the veterinarian.
  • Take the cat to designated veterinarian if required and approved to do so.
  • Be willing and able to transport the cat to veterinarian appointments in a secure carrier.
