PORTER COUNTY COUNCIL
Members present were Michael Bucko, William Carmichael, Karen Conover, Rita Stevenson, Dan Whitten, President Bob Poparad, and Jim Burge who was not present at roll call. Also present was Auditor James Kopp, Attorney Dave Hollenbeck, Lindy Wilson and Jan Noll. Mr. Poparad called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.
COMMISSIONERS 01.30 Mr. Poparad, Thank you for coming on such notice. The two items we need to address, we’ve got three. According to Beth Henkel we need to hire a couple of consultants to work with the Auditor and the Assessors in getting trending and the abstract and the tax bills done. Am I correct? Is that where we are headed? Beth Henkel, Yes. Mr. Poparad, We need to forward a recommendation to the Commissioners to hire Crowe Chizek to work with the auditor’s office, and Lisa, Lori, Lorraine? Ms. Henkel, Lorraine Harmon. Mr. Poparad, Lorraine Harmon to work with the assessors on commercial and industrial trending. Is that the correct term? Ms. Henkel, Yes. Mr. Poparad, Okay. John. John, are you here? We’re paying, you’re going to pay for Lori Harmon out of the reassessment fund then? John Scott, Yes, I will. Mr. Poparad, Okay. Commissioners, you guys are going to pick up Crowe Chizek? Mr. Harper, We have a transfer. Mr. Poparad, Yes, after we do the transfer. Okay. Any questions? Everybody got all the letters and the reports and everything else. Mr. Bucko, Yes. Mr. Whitten moved to grant the request for transfer of funds submitted by Commissioners 01.30, the amounts of $13,000 from 3510 Power to 3950 Contractual Services and $37,000 from 3510 Power to 3120 Consultants. Mr. Bucko seconded, motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
CONSULTING CONTRACTS Mr. Poparad, Do you want to make a motion on the recommendation to the Commissioners about the consultants? Mr. Whitten moved to recommend the hiring of Crowe Chizek and PSC Associates per their submitted contracts, contingent upon Commissioner approval and signature. Mr. Bucko seconded, Mr. Poparad, Any questions? Any comments? I didn’t get to stay for the whole meeting today, but, everybody, thanks for showing up. You got any questions or comments? Mr. Whitten, No, I think would have answered. Call the question. Mr. Poparad, All in favor of the motion, say aye. Motion carried on a unanimous voice vote. Mr. Poparad, Anything? Bob, you got your transfers. You guys will get the contracts, you guys will address it at your next meeting, and we can keep going. Anything? Anybody? Okay. Mr. Whitten, Mr. Chairman, would you figure out whose phone is… Mr. Poparad, It’s mine, and I don’t know how to shut it off, alright. I hate electronics. Anybody? I want to thank you all for coming. Beth, do you have anything to say? Ms. Henkel, Well, because we wanted the input of the assessors. Mr. Poparad, Yes, I mean you guys… Ms. Henkel, And in terms of the report, you’ve all seen my report, and I really appreciate that you’ve taken it to heart. Mr. Poparad, Yes. Ms. Henkel, And we’re working on getting all back on track. Mr. Whitten, That is the idea, right? Mr. Henkel, That’s the idea. Mr. Poparad, John. Mr. Scott, To save the County some money, I will take this lady around to the commercial and industrial areas. Mr. Poparad, Okay. Mr. Scott, And we will probably, unless it doesn’t work out for us, we will make the copies of the property record cards, and the things that she needs to do the work with, and make everything available or whatever, so. Mr. Bucko, Excellent. Mr. Poparad, Thank you, John. Mr. Bucko, Thank you. Mr. Whitten, Thanks a lot, John, we appreciate that. Mr. Poparad, Are all the assessors happy? Everybody smiling, what’s going on here. Mr. Bucko, Had a good lunch, maybe. Mr. Poparad, Yeah, okay. Is that it? We’ve got the Park Board coming in, so we need a motion to adjourn.
