PORTER COUNTY COUNCIL
Special Meeting
August 8, 2005
The Porter County Council held a special meeting, prior to the Public Hearing and First Readings on August 8, 2005 at 5:00 p.m., in the County Administration Center, 155 Indiana - Suite 205 Valparaiso, Indiana.
Members present were Laura Blaney, William Carmichael, Al Steele, Rita Stevenson, Dan Whitten, and President Bob Poparad. Also present was Auditor Sandra Vuko, Attorney David Hollenbeck, Becky Phillips, and Jan Noll. Also in attendance were Commissioners Robert Harper and Carole Knoblock.
The meeting was called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.
RDA APPOINTMENT
Mr. Poparad, We’re going to shuffle things a little bit, and do our RDA appointment that we continued from the interviews last week. Does anybody want to make a nomination or something?
Mrs. Blaney moved to nominate Gus Olympidis as the Porter County Council’s appointment to the Regional Development Authority. Mr. Steele seconded.
Mr. Carmichael moved to nominate Ross Amundson as the Porter County Council’s appointment to the Regional Development Authority. Mrs. Stevenson seconded.
Mr. Whitten moved to nominate Ed Charbonneau as the Porter County Council’s appointment to the Regional Development Authority. Motion died for lack of a second.
Mr. Poparad, Ed dies for lack of a second. Sandy, please call the roll, and announce who your pick is. We’ll see how it goes. Keep score.
Motion to appoint Gus Olympidis as the Porter County Council’s appointment to the Regional Development Authority carried on the following roll call vote.
Carmichael - Amundson Blaney - Olympidis

Mr. Poparad, It appears Gus is the Council’s choice. Now I’m going to hand it over to Mr. Harper. The ball’s in your court.
Com. Harper, And our meeting was noticed--correct, Jan--for tonight?
Ms. Noll, You guys announced it at the last meeting.
Com. Harper, The Commissioners are also meeting, and we’re meeting on one subject, and that is the RDA appointment. Do I hear any nominations?
Com. Knoblock moved to nominate Gus Olympidis as the Board of Commissioners’ appointment to the Regional Development Authority. Com. Harper seconded, motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
Mr. Poparad, Okay, thank you. It appears that Gus is going to be our pick to the RDA--the joint commissioner/council pick. I want to thank everybody who applied, the interviews, everybody involved in the process, and I wish you the best of luck. On that note, we’re going to; do you guys want to go?
Com. Harper, Yes.
Mr. Poparad, Unless you guys want to stick around, we’ve got another hour or two.
Com. Harper, No, that’s fine.
HIGHWAY 02
Transfer
$1,000 from 4410 Office Equipment under $100 to 4420 Motor Vehicles
$1,000 from 4510 Data Processing Equipment to 4420 Motor Vehicles
Mr. Poparad, We’re going to do some transfers first before we get to the public hearing on the budget. Highway. You want $1,000 from 4410 Office Equipment under $100 to 4420 Motor Vehicles; and $1,000 from 4510 Data to 4420 Motor Vehicles. Is there a motion?
Mr. Carmichael moved to grant the request for transfer of funds submitted by Highway 02, $1,000 from 4410 Office Equipment under $100 to 4420 Motor Vehicles and $1,000 from 4510 Data Processing Equipment to 4420 Motor Vehicles. Mr. Steele seconded, motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.

Mr. Poparad, Parks, you’ve got a little one. You’ve got $3,400 from Contractual Services to Event Expenses; and you have another one for $350 from Trainng & Education to Photo & Blueprint; and you have another for $350 from Training & Education to Photo & Blueprint; and $350 from Tools to Photo & Blueprint.

Mr. Poparad, Does anyone want to help the Parks out?
Mrs. Blaney moved to grant the request for transfer of funds submitted by Parks Operating 127, $3,400 from 3950 Contractual Services to 3980 Event Expenses; the transfer of funds submitted by Parks 01.85, $350 from 3130 Training & Education to 3310 Photo & Blueprint and $350 from 2340 Small Tools to 3310 Photo & Blueprint. Mr. Burge seconded, motion carried on a unanimous voice vote.
