Effective Immediately: All child support payments will only be taken at the Valparaiso Courthouse, 16 East Lincolnway, Valparaiso.

Support payments may be certified check, money order, or cash. No personal checks are accepted.

Be certain that the Porter County cause number and payer's name are on all certified checks or money orders, and that they are legible.

Please make all certified checks or money orders payable to the Clerk of the Circuit Court. Do not make checks payable to the recipient.

Mailing labels are available for your convenience from the Clerk's office. The cost of a one-year supply is $2.00.


CHILD SUPPORT PAYER ANNUAL FEE: All persons paying child support payments through the Clerk's office are assessed an annual processing fee by state law.

This fee is $20.00 for the first year of payments, or $10 if your new account is begun July 1 or after. For all subsequent years, the fee is $20.00 and is due in January of each year. If the fee is not paid by the end of January, it becomes $30.00.

Personal check can no longer be accepted for fee payments. Please be sure to put your cause number on your money order, and note that it is the fee payment.

SUPPORT RECIPIENT ADDRESS CHANGES: You may change your address to receive child support payments in person, or mail your notarized address change to the office. Please note all mailed address changes must be notarized.

The Post Office will not forward child support checks even if you have changed your address at the Post Office.

This process is for your protection, and will ensure the prompt and accurate handling of your support checks.
